About Me

My photo
I´m a foodie who lives to eat. A Singaporean living in the heart of Jakarta. My food blog started because I could never remember my recipes back when we travelled back and forth from here and Singapore...and I´m terrible at keeping folders! So this was my savior. I still rely on this blog to cook so just know that the recipes here are all tried and tested!

One of the Lousiest / Unluckiest day of my life!

Down and out on luck... well thats me today.. already I was pretty much reprimanded at work for not hitting my expected targets so that put me in a foul mood already ..

Thought I could cheer myself with some donuts from JCo.. so I headed out to Bugis Junction.. met Yati up to do some grocery shopping... thats when tragedy struck.. I couldn't find my wallet! Whats worse was I withdrew $1000 to pay for the kids school fees & Power Supply bill !! Oh gosh.... its so painful!!

I checked with the Cold Storage staff, then I ran to JCo to ask the staff, I asked the security, even went to the Customer service... no luck..

Thank goodness Yati was with me so she provided the 'financial' services. The icing on the cake was the cab that we took to Killiney Neighbourhood Police Centre almost ran over my feet!!

Finally I  did my report...  IT WAS 3 pages long!! sob sob...

The police report consisted of :-

1) Black Balenciaga wallet
2) Ezylink card
3) Lufthansa Miles card X 3 (mine, faris & faiz)
4) Singapore Zoo membership card
5) Cash amounting to $1000 Singapore Dollars
6) Cash amounting to $200 Malaysian Dollars
7) Pink NRIC card
8) Driving License
9) One General Electric Electronic staff pass
10) One Shenton Medical Card
11) One OCBC ATM Card
12) One OCBC Debit Card
13) One UOB One Credit Card
14) One UOB ATM Card

Yati was kind enough to loan me $300 while I get my ATM card done tomorrow.. bless her kind soul... the police, the cab driver also suggested that I wait after 1 week before getting my IC & driving license done.. What do you think I should do?

What we did this weekend

The kids wanted to meet so badly.... thats why I had 5 missed calls from Angela on Saturday! So we drove by to their place and then back again on Sunday after going to Kak Alina's daughter's wedding in Yishun..my husband for the day? Luis... ahahaha

We were there for a quick 20 mins lunch and left! The 'berkat' was a bottle of miniature coke! hmmmm.. the bride must be a big fan!

Faris was so excited on seeing his girlfriend that he begged me to help him bake cookies for her!! We haven't met them since before March school holidays when they left for Tioman and we left for Jakarta.. April was a sick month for us and May was tied up with Jakarta and then Melbourne....

So we planned on a family trip on March 2009 since I have no more leave this year... location?? Bali..

Angela suggested we stay at Suji Bungalow (www.sujibglw.com) where her parents usually stay..

The colour purple

On impulse I bought that purple Tony Bianco purple heels... granted its on sale for $30 but how often would I wear it? Most importantly.. do I have anything to wear it WITH??

Some people say purple is the colour of sexual deprivation...... gosh would it show "DEPRIVED" right on my sleeves?? heheheh

Googles purple and I came up with this....:-

Purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Purple is associated with royalty. It symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. It conveys wealth and extravagance. Purple is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic.

According to surveys, almost 75 percent of pre-adolescent children prefer purple to all other colors. Purple is a very rare color in nature; some people consider it to be artificial.

Light purple is a good choice for a feminine design. You can use bright purple when promoting children's products.

Light purple evokes romantic and nostalgic feelings.
Dark purple evokes gloom and sad feelings. It can cause frustration.

So far fetched from my initial meaning!!!

So I went out and bought this Arthur Yen dress.... somehow I couldn't capture its 'flirtiness' over the camera to match my shoe..... I'm so in love with it! It falls right on my mid-calf.. has a pink slip underneath the chiffon fabric to make it look like purple...and pleats over the front.. The collar give me that very decent, demure look. (puke puke!)

Mini Skirts Anyone??

This is one reason why I NEVER  NEVER wear short skirts!!! Not only cuz I dun have a nice pair of pins to show off but if I am unfortunate enough to take the MRT like this lady here.... THIS MIGHT HAPPEN!!

I took an even more close picture but decided not to post it up due to the 'graphic nature'... (her white underwear was a little how should I say it delicately??.... grimy....

United Square

Mama suggested we go for our anniversary dinner in Jakarta and she'll babysit the boys.. heheheh :-)

So why Garuda? Because if we take Luft ($1054 for 4), we'll arrive 15th evening which means we only have Saturday to shop and then off we go on Sunday.. rubbish.. if we take Qatar ($900 for 4), we arrive at about 4pm.. and we have to take a cab to the apartment as Fai will be working anyway.. and we dun have much time to shop either what with the traffic jam...

With Garuda at $1120 we'll arrive on Thurday night (flight is at 8pm and we'll rush after I get off work), we'll still have time for dinner, spend the whole friday & saturday shopping and still have sunday to spare! YIPPPPEEE

Did I mention about the fuel charges? When I booked on the phone the total was $1112 incl taxes but when I went to pay the counter lady  told me its $1120 as the fuel charge increase by $2 each within that day! Can you imagine if I had gone to make payment next week???
This is why I dun fancy Garuda! No online booking!! So backdated la! Unless I book through Zuji but its $30 more.....sigghh

Souvenirs!!

Fai came back and finally i could give him my souvenirs from Melbourne... his work shirts from Fletcher Jones! I figured there's no point in buying him surf wear anyway... there's no beach in JKT that he can hang out at! lol

I bought the slim-cut with size 39 and it fit him to a T! I'm so glad he liked it! Money worth spent! lol

He in turn bought me my souvenir! KRISPY KREME! Told him to get half a dozen glazed but he was stubborn! Bought 1 dozen mixed cuz he bet that the kids will eat the sprinkles and chocs... I told him I knew the kids taste better.. was I right.... out of the 6, Faiz ate 2 glazed, Faris ate 1 glazed and I ate 1 glazed...... ( see dear.. Mother knows best...)

P.S... Cik Imah look......... NO GLAZE!!! No like Melbourne! sob sob

Lamb Cutlets

On the way back from work I stopped by Cold Storage (sob sob..no more Coles or Safeway.....) to pick up the necessities like milk, juices, cheese, chocolate pudding & Yakult for Faiz when i passed by the meat section... guess what i saw? Lamb Cutlets!!

They look as tender as the one Cik Nani bought.. when Cik Imah told me it cost $25 per kg.. i gasp!! So expensive! To think that Australia have an abundance number of Sheep / Lamb!!!

As you can see, I attached 2 pics..the one on the left packaging had 10 slices and it cost a whopping $44.80!! ($59.90 per kg)

On the right was on 'Special Offer'.. 3 small cutlets for $10.54.... alas perut pun tak kenyang sey.......

Silly Silly Me!

In my excitement not to feel too blah for my first day back at work, i set the alarm on my phone early... 6.40am to be exact.. So i could take a long shower, pick the clothes to wear, maybe wear one of my new heels... etc

I dashed out the room with my towel in hand and noticed its still really dark outside...

What i didn't realize is that i set it on Aussie time!

Which means I got up at 4.40am!! To go to work!

Now I feel silly and I can't go back to bed... what a silly way to start the week!
